Seasonal Warnings

Salmon Season is upon us

  •  Salmon season is here. With the rivers and creeks overflowing their banks we will be seeing more and more salmon laying on the banks where dogs will have easy access to them.
To acquire SALMON SICKNESS it is not necessary to eat raw Salmon. Just a lick will do it.
The incubation period is generally 7 to 10 days.
This is a very deadly disease. The longer the pet goes without treatment the higher the chances are that they will not recover.
If caught within 24 hours of ingestion a simple injection and oral medications  may be all that is needed. Once symptoms appear the worse the chances are for a full recovery.
At first you will notice a lack of appetite, excessive water consumption followed by vomiting and diarrhea.
Once the symptoms appear it is imperative that you seek medical treatment.
If you even suspect that you dog has come into contact with Salmon get it treated ASAP!
